My lipstick collection is not that large. I’m a fan of a year-round shades, something that looks good in the depth of winter and not too shabby when I remember to finish off a look in the summer. But I do have a couple that I tend to use more often than others during the warmer months, you may have seen a couple of these pop up before because they are super faves, but I thought I’d share a couple of my go to colours.
I’ll start off with the ultimates. Etude House’s collaboration with Minnie Mouse: Minnie XOXO Kissing lips in bubble pink. I’ve talked about this lipstick before, so it’s probably no surprise that it’s featured yet again, since I absolutely love the colour and the texture. Unfortunately it was a limited edition release for the end of 2013… and not even eBay sleuthing turned up any of these to buy 🙁
Next is the VDL Festival Lipstick (Love Mark), in the orange shade: 604 Colin . I absolutely adore this lipstick as it definitely isn’t your average. It’s also a favourite of mine to mix with other colours, as it give a really nice tone to some of my lesser worn reds. It’s another creamy formula, slightly scented with the VDL rosette on the bullet.
Both these shades are quite bright, so I prefer to use the ‘gradient lip’ effect for a more subtle daytime look – put the colour in the centre of the lip and blend out.
I also really love lip tints during summer. Makeup Revolution have a really good selection in their #Liphug range, and one of them is a fairly good western dupe for my next favourite product, the The Face Shop lip tint stick in Sweet Cherry. Because it’s a tint stick, the colour is really buildable, so it’s perfect for summer looks with pretty, barely there makeup.
Straying away from the bright colours lands me in the more ‘burgundy hued nudes’ area. And I think I’ve actually discovered a nearly-almost dupe for the Burberry Kisses Sepia No.85 shade. It isn’t exact, since the Burberry version is a tad more red, but Rimmel London’s Lasting Finish in shade 077/Asia isn’t too far off. What do you guys think? Yes? No?
I love both of these shades, and think that they look really sweet with all kinds of summer outfits. They make a nice change from the bubblegum shades that usually pop up a lot over summer, a little more sultry without being vampy, or having to break out the reds.

I can't tell you how brave you are to pull off an orange lip, although i've seen your post on it on my way to this one and it looks fab on you!
