As someone with a heavy interest in the Asian fashion scene, it’s interesting to see which trends get picked up and transported to the west a full season or two… or three… or four later. And yes I did almost that exact sentence recently because I find it quite funny. Cartoon motifs are making waves at the minute, so I’m digging out a few of the crops and patches I picked up on my year abroad to style for the spring-summer season. Do love how cyclic fashion is, makes my life so easy.
cardigan: primark
top: edae markets (korea)
skirt: edae markets (korea)
cycle shorts: forever21
socks: primark
shoes: choies
I picked this striped crop top up in Edae, once I’d finally succumbed to the sheer amount of disney adorned pieces lining the rails. It was a ‘point-of-caving’ purchase, a true ‘I’ve had enough, FINE’ type things… and then it quickly became one of my favourite tops. The motif is peeling a little bit now, but I think it adds to the ‘distressed’ vibe. Yes, the holes came store-bought, I make sure I don’t have any super hungry moths in my wardrobe.
The skirt is another Korea purchase – a staple that I’d loved before but couldn’t quite justify the price of. All the denim circle/skater skirts seemed to be so gosh-darned expensive. Though the denim of this is quite thin it’s still a cute skirt to twirl around in, but it can be a bit risky so I always make sure I’ve got safety shorts on underneath. Forever21’s lace hemmed cycle shorts are my go to.
I love all the longline chunky knit cardis. I want moooooooore. This one, as you all know, is hella old primark but it’s lasted me so well. It’s cozy and chunky and warm and since spring is oh so very slowly edging over the horizon day by day, it’s a nice piece to just throw on under a jacket. I still want more though. In lots of colours.
Shoes are from Choies. The tread has worn down a little on the toes but I have been wearing them religiously. They’re one of my favourite pairs of shoes, extra height without the ouch of heels. Flatforms for the win, woo.
I’ll be back with the outdoor shots soon. My usually helpers have been either ill or up to their eyeballs in uni work, and standing outside snapping shots of me is not exactly helpful for either of those circumstances. So tripod, awkward light and my off-cream walls it is. 😀
What do you guys think of the Disney/Cartoon trend? I love a bit of anything whacky so I’m alllllll over it. Still gotta find that brand of jeans that has all the patches on the legs that I saw when I was at Seoul Fashion Week…
