With the sun setting at what can only really be described as mid-afternoon up north, the nights getting longer, and everyone mutually curling up in blankets in front of  the fireplace (or curling up in your duvet with candles and fairylights), I think it’s safe to say winter is upon us. Some more than others (stay safe America!), but most definitely here.

So I’ve put together 3 winter-inspired outfits that I think are really cute for the coldest of seasons, following along a couple of the trends from this years fashion weeks and some of my favourite items I’ve seen when out window shopping.

Snow Princess

I really love how pastel shades haven’t been shelved as purely for spring this year. Using them to break up, or accent a white outfit can add a little winter iciness to your look. Which is super cute, if you ask me. It adds a freshness to a season that is so typically dominated by strong, dark colours.

Winter is also all about layering, both for aesthetics and for warmth. This warehouse scarf is absolutely adorable, it fits with both the current check trend and the blanket-scarf trend – so is going to be super cozy when (if) we do get snow in England.

I’d wear this outfit with opaque white tights and some cute, simple jewellery. Nothing particularly statement-y, as the thing that makes this sort of outfit really easy to wear is the simplicity, so probably a thin, silver bracelet or two, and some pretty rings. Primark is ace for jewellery at the moment, even though it isn’t the ~best~ quality.

Safe Colours

If pastel colours aren’t your thing during the winter months, then by all means stick to colours that are in your comfort zone. The classic combination of jeans and a white tee can be jazzed up a little with a disco pant style trouser and cut-out cami. A long line cardigan adds another dimension to the layering, and for those of us that are shorter, a platform boot will elongate the legs. Score.

With such a neutrally shaded base, you can play around with statement accessories, and this patterned scarf from River Island is great. The bag pictured is Ted Baker, but there are plenty of boxy patent bags gracing the high street at the moment, which is great.

Snuggle Up

Even on days when you don’t especially want to leave the house, or very begrudgingly have to, you can still look effortlessly cute. Oversized jumpers, jeans, and a basic top are things that are wardrobe staples, It’s such a simple, relaxed outfit, but it’s cute and so easy to wear. Throwing on a neutrally patterned scarf and leaving the ‘colour pop’ to the shoes (love this ASOS pair) brings the whole look together.

Which outfit is your favourite? I’m torn between the first and the third, even though I’ve never even tried on a pair of the topshop joni jeans (I know, I know). Should probably sort that out, really… I do need a new pair of jeans.
