There are some spots in Sheffield that are fab. Like seriously fab. The Steam Yard is definitely one of them. It’s kitschy and homey and all sorts of wooden rustic that makes me kind of want to live there. Division Street is home to a few of these insta-friendly places (the Lucky Fox is super close), and they’re the perfect stop on a cold, super windy day when you’re up to your armpits in wallpaper samples. 

The Steam Yard isn’t the biggest of coffee places, but good things come in small packages, ey? It’s got a decent number of tables though, and all of them are wooden for optimal instagram flatlays. It made mine and Chantel’s little blogger hearts very happy.

We went simple with the drinks, green tea for me (as ever, soz I’ll make a resolution to be somewhat more adventurous next year), and hot chocolate for the bonnie lass because she felt the need for hot drinks because this bloody wind is such a nightmare. And despite them being really busy, we hardly had to wait at all for our drinks.

Bonus points added for doing a speedy hot choc with pretty latte art.

Tucked away in a little courtyard on Division street. the Steam Yard, even thought it’s small and often quite busy, still manages to maintain that hidden, secluded feeling. Similar to those cosy cottages everyone grew up wanting to live in because, hello, who wouldn’t like to live in a practical Disney film cottage? They’re also a small independent business, so no doubt I’ll be going back to snack on all those vanilla twisty things when the dissertation gets tough, and I get eating. 

Ooh and on the subject of food, these guys do a pretty mean menu, allegedly. I haven’t tried it yet, but the bagels and grilled sarnies looked delish, and all their sweet treats had me watering at the mouth a tad. I might be going back this week but shhhh, don’t tell my fridge. 

I think I’m fawning too much over a coffee shop, but I only just realised that they do fro-nuts – ice cream and doughnuts. HOW COOL. It’s sad that I didn’t try this place sooner, but I think it might become a semi-regular haunt, and I’m definitely going to be recommending it to people when they come to visit Sheff. It’s ideal.
