Party season. Christmas into New Year provides ample opportunity to whack out the sparkles and the glitz and the glamour all in the spirit of one fabulous party. Shopping for that ultimate party outfit provides ample opportunity for tears in the changing rooms and a hell of a lot of sighing. Also potentially outfit snapping with that one girl you reaaaaaaaaally didn’t want to outfit snap with. I’m as for sequins and glitter as the next gal, but sometimes you just need to tone it back and stop the show with monochrome.
Because monochrome outfits are a tried and tested combination guaranteed to make that awkward dance to not get anything on the white totes worth it. Also, everything always matches. E v e r y t h i n g.

olivie lace trim two piece*: c/o Luxemme
socks: primark
shoes: forever21
I’ve had the Olivie lace trim two piece* in my wardrobe a while. courtesy of Luxemme, but haven’t had the occasion to wear it out and get decent snaps. My final year uni life is thoroughly uneventful, and any party or night out I do attend would be too risky to wear a pretty white ensemble. Seriously, the thought of someone spilling a cheap beer or vodka mixer on this fills me with so much sadness.
So I brought it home, as you do, to wear to my Mum’s annual Christmas do at her practice, because it’s tonnes more sophisticated, and I feel the outfit matches that… slightly elevated sophistication. Hopefully I won’t be the dressiest person there, but as Oscar Wilde said: ‘you can never be overdressed or overeducated’.
The feel when u just remembered how much work u have to do over christmas… |
What do you think of this outfit? And what are you wearing for the party season – sparkles, GLITTER, or toning it down a tad for the understated elegance??

This outfit is absolutely lovely! I still remember a NYE outing that happened five years ago where a girl ran up to me screeching over the fact that we were wearing the same dress. I'm sure she was super lovely and just wanted a chat but I'm not particularly good with real life conversation, so I think I gave a horrible impression that I was mad at her for wearing the same thing as me. Horrendous! If I get my way, I'll be wearing a dressing gown for most of the party season! x
