The second installment of some of my favourite street fashion shots from  Seoul Fashion Week SS15. It’s a combination of days 1 through 5, featuring some of my absolute favourite models.

There’s something about the fashion-conscious Koreans that is so effortless. I never used to believe people when they said they could ‘instantly pinpoint a person’s nationality from their outfit’. Fashion seemed far to fluid to me for that to be a thing, and yet, now, I’m seeing it.

I adore photos like this. Absolutely adore people being caught in the moment of an action or an emotion. As I’ve said before, Alex Finch has such a great eye for moments like this. Anyway, I’m not here to rave about the composition of a photograph (another time, another post), I’m here to comment on the outfits. All white. All white with colour (pink) accents. Duster coats. Pastel hair. Contrasted by dark tones, military style buttons, polo necks and high waisted jeans. Beanies! What is not to love?

No seriously. This look is so perfectly transitional. White gives such a neutral pallet that you can literally throw on any colour as an accent, and keep any addition colours muted or matching.

Another example of an all white base with pastel accents, only with the addition of cute knee highs and classic adidas. I really like the layering of both outfits, the white top peeking out under the olive breaks up the dark colours, and the rolled up ankle on the jeans shows the ankle boots quite nicely. I like the contrast in lengths that the shorts vs the coat creates, it adds an extra dimension, and is a nice transitional outfit. Not something I’d be able to wear in England during autumn, but hey.

WooJaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Probably my favourite male model. Probably. His street style outfits are always so impeccably put together. He also photographs ridiculously well, which is a good thing seeing as he’s a model and all. But really, his sense of style when he’s not being a clothes horse for a fashion house is a thing of wonder. Keeping it simple here with a simple monochromatic button down and a classic jean turnup. The only thing I have an issue with is the bucket hat. I don’t like bucket hats. Still,  #WellDressedBoys.

Some Korean photographic prestige obviously had to creep its way in at some point. And the best place to start, for me, anyway, is RealStreet. It’s one of my absolute favourite Korean fashion blogs – now I guess you can tell why it was such a big deal for me to end up being photographed for it – covering things from events to seoulites every day style.

Your eye instantly lands on that striped suit, doesn’t it? It’s a great piece, in all honesty, taking that pinstripe AW trend to the extreme. The contrasting direction on the pockets breaks the continual downward stripe, and a plain bag and shoes doesn’t make the look too busy. I like the hat and sunglasses also.

The second outfit, at first glance looks incredibly casual (and comfy), the knee length sweater adds the slouch appeal, but then the slit makes it far less sofa-chic.. I like the pairing of it with the wet-look trousers, it adds an edginess to the look that compliments the burgundy double soled shoes and the one-earring. (Another AW trend that I’m seeing more and more of.)

That. Bag. Remember what I was saying about seoulites just being effortlessly fashionable? This outfit is incredibly reminiscent of what I used to do karate in: wide legged, black trousers and a loose fitting top. Yet I wasn’t carting around a beautiful black bag, wearing (what look to be) polished brogues, and round-rimmed glasses. It’s the additions to an outfit that can make (or break) it, in many peoples opinion, and I agree wholeheartedly. So simple. So chic. 

Lee HoJung – from RealStreet

Lee HoJung is one of my favourite female models of all time. All time. She’s such an absolute joy to take photos of, being equally serious and playful when required. She’s especially fan-friendly too, despite having to run from show to show, she take the time (like many of the models, actually) to take photographs with her fans, and throw a couple of extra poses for the photographers.

Her outfits are usually a little eye catching, and this navy tartan jumpsuit is no exception. Fully on trend for AW. A simple enough bag and black trainers dress this look down really well, I think heels could’ve made it a touch too formal. Well, as formal as a blue tartan jumpsuit can be.

Reppin’ the adidas. I don’t think she rode that bike to the DDP with those Mulders on. I don’t think. I could be wrong, Korean girls do like to run in the snow in heels, so what’s a bit of BMX-ing? Outfit-wise, I love the bright colours of that sweater, and how she keeps the sporty look going right down to her socks. The contrast of the Jeffrey Campbell’s works nicely, I do have a soft spot for a good, clunky shoe.

I love outfits like this. A modern twist on a renaissance vibe, with layering to die for. Basic colours — you really can’t go wrong with black and white, ever — mixing textures and keeping clean lines, it’s another stand out outfit, but in a completely different way than a bold print or a loud, vibrantly coloured accessory.

I’m still waiting for all the photos from my favourite collections to go up, so stay tuned for posts on the likes of 87mm, Steve&Yoni P, DGNAK plus others.
