You know that feeling when you go into a store, or browse a website for the new season and you instantly want everything? Well. W e l l. I don’t think I’ve ever had such an intense bout of ‘must have it all’ as with Missguided’s ‘New In‘ offerings.
I’m talking serious wishlisting here (it’s gone past the point of ridiculous).
But! I’ve done the seemingly impossible, and whittled a list as long as my arm – and then some – down to 11 pieces that I think need to be in your spring wardrobe. And mine.
Logically, the place to start would be top left, but I’m going to jump right in with the lips print sweetheart mini dress, because w o w. It’s such a fun, retro print (perfect for all the revivals we’re having this year), and would make a brilliant statement piece. And though these sorts of things are notoriously hard to wear – I’d say it’s more in peoples heads than lack of things to style them with. Throw on a leather(ette) jacket, some chunky boots, a fierce attitude, and you’re instantly serving retro-chic realness.
If the lip print is a little too bold, then swap the LBD for something with a touch more colour – I’m loving this blue textured midi dress, or if that’s a little too far then this grey number, a racerback ribbed bodycon dress is the perfect alternative – and a massive style steal at only £10. Truly versatile numbers, they can be dressed up with a strappy heel, or down with pumps or a boot.
The separates also had me swooning, especially this long sleeved, cut out top in mint. The colour itself is such a fresh shade that it would carry right through spring into summer, and the cut out detail is unobtrusive, but updates it from ‘just another crop’. I’m also loving trousers too, which is something I never thought I’d say after having to wear them every day for school for far too long, but this check skinny fit pair intrigued me. I love the way they’re styled on the website – the models legs look so long!
Moving on to shoes – oh my god. I wasn’t quite foaming at the mouth, but it is no secret I am a shoe lover (hoarder), and the designs in for this season are stunning. I couldn’t pick just one pair of loafers, but either of these would make a brilliant spring shoe. I can’t even decide which pair I like more out of the patent mint green chain trim or metallic rose gold penny duo. What about you?
I’m not a fan of open toes, it has to be said, but two have made it onto this list, and they couldn’t be more different! The block heel contrast heeled sandal (I’d suggest renaming that…) is a gorgeous shoe, I love the baby pink being outlined by black piping and the white heel – it’d look lovely with a tailored trouser outfit, I think. The tan, stud detail cross strap sandals whisk me away to dreams of beaches and pools and warmer weather, and would look immeasurably cute with a skater skirt and a fitted top – possibly down the sport-chic avenue in styling.
Pointed shoes are having a serious moment, right now, and whereas I was a little unsure at the start, I’m pretty gung-ho about them now. They can add a new twist to an outfit in seconds, and this silver and black ankle strap pair would certainly be an easy addition to a monochromatic outfit.
Finally, to accessories! Only two made it to the list, but I really didn’t want to overwhelm you all with my utter love for missguided right now. It’s intense. I’m sorry. Have some cuteness? This polkadot bow scrunchie takes me back to my days browsing the accessory stands in Korea – it’s adorable and I need it. Even a bad hairday wouldn’t be so bad if I had this, I swear. I’m also really loving quirkily shaped rings at the minute, and who wouldn’t want to pop this square stacking set on their fingers? They’re thin, so if you’re a chunky ring lover, they’re probably not up your alley, but for those of us that love a little bit of delicate bling: perfect.
