Asos had a sale. I am weak. That’s about it.
Well, there’s more to it than that, as in the reason I was even browsing Asos in the first place, but if we’re getting down to the what actually happened, there’s your answer. And in the first line of a post. Who even am I right now???
There are twists in the narrative, however. Not all of the items in the little accessories haul are from Asos, but all of them are things that I’ve been looking at acquiring for quite some time and, despite moving from the category of ‘student’ into ‘looking for employment’, thought I should get them before they sold out. Foolproof shopaholic logic.
The Grand Search to Find a Dress Suitable for Graduation also took me on a grand search of the accessories selection to see if I could find any absolute bargains to snap up. Asos sales are fab when they slash things to more than half price – the three items actually came to £10 in total which is #steal.
The most expensive item in this haul is the Skinnydip Hello pencil case (£6). It’s probably the largest pencil case I’ve seen for a very long time, and I actually have ideas for this other than storing my really pretty Zebra and Muji pens. It’s really well constructed, proper sturdy with a chunky zip, and the hello is actual stitching into the peachy pink fabric. No applique here, it’s actually stitching. Inside is lined with a black fabric, and the back is pretty classically plain, just the mint green and a skinnydip badge at the base. For £6 I’m really fkin happy.
Another pair of sunglasses, another pair with polarised lenses, when will this obsession end? (Never). These lil’ white beauties were all of £3. Three quid. They have clear plastic frames that remind me of those GentleMonster sell but I can’t afford at all, and the lenses change colour depending on what light hits them. Comfortable too.
Slightly lower at the £2 mark were these hair crystal twisty’s from River Island. I thought they’d look pretty cute with some summer outfits or special occasion wear, and that the coiling would mean they’d actually stick in my hair better than other sort of embellished grips. So far that hasn’t exactly happened on both fronts – weather, grrrrr, and my hair is just ridic slippery to everything apart from butterfly grips? – but I shall persevere.
Moving away from Asos and onto YesStyle. It’s been a while since I’ve shopped from there, in all honesty I prefer going to the actual sites of some of the brands they stock, but it’s a fab site to explore new stores. As Hannah said to me a while back, YesStyle is the gateway into asian fashion. On the accessories front, they have some items at really cheap prices, and considering I was making an order for some clothes I thought I’d bump up my basket to free shipping with some accessories.
I’ve wanted one of the shaped hair barrettes spotted at Celine for a while now, and I’ve seen other shapes floating around the internet that I thought looked really cute. The moon has been my favourite of all the designs so far, so naturally that was the one I went for, as #moonprincess.
The other thing I’ve been trying to get for a while are collar pins! I’ve been looking at a few on etsy and storenvy, but didn’t really find one that I felt I could commit that much money to without knowing that I’d wear it – I hate buying things from independent stores and then it never seeing the light of day again – so as a bit of a trial run I decided to get this little enameled lucky cat. Isn’t it cute?

Let me know which item is or are your favourites! And when do you buy your accessories – are you more of a sale girl like me and my mum, or do you buy as and when you see something?
