Since the first one of these went down so well, I thought that I’d do a part two to share some of the nifty things on the internet that make the creative process a little bit easier. From places that organise the fonts you’ve downloaded, to plugins for premiere pro/after effects AND final cut, these are some places on the web that have really helped me with my projects.
If you’re like me and have a slight font hoarding problem, then wordmark.it is your new best friend. Type your text into the search bar, and it brings up the phrase in all/most of the fonts installed on your computer. HOW FAB.
I’ve spoken about both of these in my easy SEO post before, but they’re worth mentioning again because image optimisation is important for web content. These two web pages are free and provide ace image optimisation facilities.
In the same vein as tinyPNG and compressor, JPEGmini is a desktop app of the same sort of program, just fabulously offline for the times wifi fails you or you’re in the middle of the wilderness. It does only optimise JPEG images though, but useful all the same.
fx factory is a nifty lil’ amalgamation of different plugins for your video editing software. Some are free, some are quite pricey, but all in all a resource that is handy to have.
A new find for myself, but one that I bookmarked about as speedily as I’ve bookmarked anything is free design resources. Similar to Creative Market and The Hungry JPEG, but allll free. They have a massive stock range from fonts to photoshop actions to UI kits and pretty sweet templates (I’m not at all eyeing up all those to do with CVs…), so you’ll be able to find something. Or that something, hopefully, if you haven’t found it yet.
Medialoot has a freebie page that lets you get your teeth stuck into a range of design elements. Wahoo! Most if not all of these freebies require attribution if you use them.
Another recent find that has over a million colour palettes to help with design needs. It’s fab for projects where you need a colour scheme and can’t really be bothered to go through the entire hexadecimal chart to figure out what works.
The last one-stop-shop of design resources to share this round, graphicburger features mock-ups, graphics, textures, icons… another long list of things for you to use at your disposal (remember to check the licenses).
So there we have another 8 internet resources to make the creative process a little easier on ourselves. Don’t struggle, there’s usually something online somewhere that will help!
Let me know if you have a goldmine of resources that I’ve missed, or if you found this helpful.
