No word of a lie, it snowed on the day of this shoot. Legit snow. Freezing temperatures and snow. But, I braved the wintery weather to give you a little sneak peek of one of the possible outfits I’ll be wearing to Seoul Fashion Week this season (so you might see it again, albeit with variations, sometime soon). It’s also probably one of my current favourite combinations, despite it being horrifically seasonally inappropriate.
Blacks, whites, greys with a hint of neutrals is a pretty fail safe combination. There isn’t anything to set the colour palette out of balance – though a pop of something bright probably wouldn’t go amiss in the way of accessories. I think the patches on the jacket add enough interest to wear this outfit as is, it’s the quirky piece that makes you ask ‘wait does that actually say violence?’ (yes it does and no I don’t know either).
The top I picked up in Seoul from a shop in Myeongdong that I’m kind of really excited to see if it’s still there (please please pleaseeeee). It’s fastened by poppers at the neck and the base just above the small of your spine, so it gives this cool wrap effect with an open back. I love how the slogan sits right across the base, it breaks up an all black outfit really nicely.
You’ve seen this tennis skirt before, it’s the one I got in the black friday sale last year… well, American Apparels closing down sale (a moment of silence for the check patterned skirts I didn’t get to buy). I’ve got dupes of these tennis skirts in an array of colours, and I do have to say that the quality of the material the AA skirts are made from is far superior. It’s thicker, so holds it’s shape and the definition of the pleats wonderfully. In saying that, I’ve seen some fab alternatives floating around the high street and a few of my favourite Korean stores, so all is not lost.

I think my absolute favourite thing from this whole ensemble is actually the boots. They’re flat (!!!!) over-the-knee, suedette, with a slouchy, almost oversized top around the thigh. They also have this really cute lacing detail at the back of the knee and holy heck I’m so in love. They’re from Daisy Street, and, get this, cost £44.99. They’re gorgeous, and no doubt are going to be an absolute bargain in cost-per-wear terms, as if the price wasn’t good enough as is. I’ve been looking for a flat pair of black OTK boots for ages, but everything was platformed (do have a pair of those too…) or heeled, or just not what I wanted. And then I saw these, so I added them to basket and now if I had to save items from a burning building these would be a serious contender.
They’re so soft and comfy inside, and they’re slightly padded so they keep your legs warm. Which, in this day and age, with OTKs being the staple partner of oversized hoodies/sweatshirts with the wearer probably forgoing tights for fashions’ sake, is a godsend. They also have a cheeky zip at the ankle so you’re not completely straining to get them on. So much love.
Since getting these though, a few more have popped up on Asos so I’ve added a couple of others to the widget down below if you fancy having a nose at what’s on offer. I do suggest going and trying some pairs on if you can, if you’re looking for this style of boot, just so you know exactly what it is you want.

P.s, I know I look super tired in some of these – it’s been pretty stressful recently and I’ve not been getting the most sleep known to man (plus I ran out of my eye cream, and haven’t been drinking enough water)… Could’ve photoshopped them out, but hey.
P.P.S massive thanks to Han who’s a wonderful lil bean for putting up with me and taking photos for me. <3
Let me know what you think of this outfit! Also, how do you think I could change this up for fashion week? Some sort of headwear? Accessories? I’d love to hear your suggestions!

Aww, the snow shoot! Kudos for pulling it off, I couldn't have done so without an enormous scarf, massive socks and a parka! Those boots are gorgeous <3 xx

I was definitely regretting not adding a scarf to this ensemble. IT WAS A BIT NIPPY. I love how affordable they are, and they wear so well! 🙂

Oh my gosh I'm in love with those boots! It's great that they're flat too – I find that brands can't seem to make pretty, flat shoes, but these look so versatile.Lizzie Bee // Hello Lizzie Bee

Such a lovely outfit. Seriously, you rock it so well (and I'm hella jealous because I want knee highs but my height and the fact my legs aren't the most…svelte would make it hard to find ones that fit right and look good!)Meg | Elmpetra
