I love halloween. Sure the actual concept of the holiday has been pretty much lost now — it’s much less about celebrating festivals or remembering the dead in most places that celebrate, and more about how ace your costume looks. Also sweets. Also alcohol and parties.
And a brilliant chance to play with makeup and create some amazing looks.
So what did I decide to go as for my first halloween party this year?
The ‘Broken Doll’. It’s not the most imaginative, I know, but it’s easy enough to do if you’re on a budget or sourcing props last-minute. (I’ve never seen Claire’s as busy in my entire life.) And even though I’m working on it, I still don’t have the mad skillz of the likes of madeulook or PinkStylist.
I do, however, have a lot of makeup on my face. A lot. The key features being:
eyes:
– ecoTools lashes in ‘wispy and flared’
– wing: etude house Oh my Eye Line liquid liner + etude house ‘styling eye liner’ in black
inner corner + lower lash line: etude house ‘styling eye liner’ in white
face:
sleek blusher in ‘pixie pink’ on my cheeks
peripera heart glow stick for highlighter
lips:
rimmel london ‘Starry-eyed’ for the lip base
a smidge of eyeliner for the black ‘open mouthed’ gap
All the cracks on my arms/neck and around the edges of my face were drawn with eyeliner (not sharpie, as my dad suggested).
It’s a super easy look to do, you just have to be a little bit patient if you want to start off with a super white base by using face paint. I did, but you really can’t tell because I am that pale.
My outfit was just a black h&m crop top with a leather-look skater skirt that I bought from an ebay shop 2-ish years ago. The waistband was spiked and went with my ‘hellchild’ spiked accessories. Even though my spiked Damsels would have looked incredible with this outfit, I love them too much to wear them to clubs.
What did you dress up as for Halloween this year? Any of you win any awesome costume prizes, or were really proud of how you did your makeup?
