I’m the queen of getting ‘double ID’d’. Of the questionable eyebrow raise when you put alcohol onto the conveyor belt at the checkout. Of the ‘sorry, but I’m going to have to see some ID’ spiel that cashiers do. (No hate at all, it’s more amusing now that a lot of the people asking to see my ID are actually younger than me, plus I want you guys to keep your jobs so keep asking.) I’m ~blessed~ with a babyface. Unless I’ve literally just rolled out of bed, or am having a particularly bad day in the undereye baggage department, I don’t look my age. The fact that I’m barely touching 160cm doesn’t help, or my tendency to dress in tennis skirts and oversized sweaters.
Which brings me to a question I’ve been thinking of more and more now that I’m edging further into my 20s. When do I have to overhaul my wardrobe and start dressing more ‘age appropriate’? It’s 2017 and that’s also a redundant question because it’s not even a requirement – just take a look at Baddie Winkle – but there’s a lot of societal pressure around women and what they wear past certain ages in their lives.
