If you hadn’t guessed by now, Wednesdays are a dedicated ‘ladies who lunch’ day. Once a week three of my beaut uni friends and I schedule in a session where it’s just good food, good company and a lotta laughs. It’s great when the pressure of uni is ridiculous. Work and essays are not a thing for two hours. So fab.
Plus all four of us are chronically shit at living in Sheffield and need to explore. And exploration is best done in groups so you can laugh about your fails later. Riiight?
Anyway, we ended up on West Street at The Cavendish for lunch. We’ve pretty much all eaten there before, but we all like the food and they just get better each year. Plus their new menu set up is adorable and I am so here for cute menus.
The Cavendish is known for having pretty decent food. Truth be told I’ve never actually had any alcohol in there despite the fact it is a pub, so I can’t inform you there, but in the two years since I’ve had lunch (at the Cavendish, not in general), I can say the food has improved. It wasn’t bad before, but now it’s just, really good.
FOOD.
I settled for the pulled pork open burrito, mostly because I was fascinated by the concept of an open burrito, but also because oooh pulled pork. It’s a treat-meat for me and if I’m gonna have it I might as well have it pulled. It came with more salad and rice than I was expecting, and I didn’t think I was gonna finish the whole thing, but my stomach came through and we did. It was fab. Definitely would recommend.
On the other side of the table was the Mac n’ Cheese and side of chips. Because the chips are apparently best dipped in the sauce. I didn’t have any, but it was all finished off and I’m assuming tasted fine.
The Cavendish itself is a really nice lunch spot – it’s got lovely large windows that do face out onto West St. but when the sun’s out it’s pretty nice to just chill inside and eat your food. Price wise, they’re pretty standard for pub food, you’re looking at less than £10 a head, easily. Also in the summer they have a beer garden which is kinda spiffy when the Union bar just wont cut it. The Cav’s a pretty decent place.
(As long as the footy isn’t on, then you probably won’t find me even leaving my flat, but hey, pubs.)
Where’s the best place you’ve had lunch recently?

That pulled pork is the most incredible thing I've ever seen. Not good reading this when hungry. Hurry up lunch time. I wish I lived closer to Sheffield just for this meal.Kirstie | http://www.kimamelybeauty.com
