The best party looks for this time of year, to me, are those that create a statement. Whether that statement is ‘I AM THE GLITTER BALL/ you’re so on trend everyone else might as well just go home, you’ve won this season/this outfit makes me look da bomb ting and everyone will be talking about it until well into the new year’, the key to any perfect look is confidence.
Though it really doesn’t hurt to have some absolutely killer threads in your wardrobe to help. I mean, if I was wearing a Giambattista Valli or Zuhair Murad dress to any of the formal events this year, I’d be pretty damn confident.
So, my perfect party look for this holiday season? Given free range of the Farfetch website presented an unholy amount of choice, but I managed to narrow it down to one look that I think is pretty recreateable – whatever your budget – and still keeps that lil’ summin’ summin’ you get with designer outfits.
the dress: Minjukim tweed shirt flared dress
I cycled through so many options for the body of this outfit. So. Many. I’m usually more of a separates-party-outfit girl myself, something you can mix and match, dress up or down depending on the situation. And then I saw this and was pretty much hitting the ‘add to wishlist’ button 0.02 seconds after the page loaded. It’s so pretty.
Short dresses are more versatile than floor length (though remember to check your invitation for the dress code), as you can go from dinner to drinks without the concern you’re going to ruin your hem. Major stress when you’re approximately the same size as Tinkerbell (aka: me). I love the detail in the fabric of this little Minjukim number, it makes it look like the dress is made out of a little snow flurry, or idk, twinkling lights. Plus it’s got a collar and cuffs and I’m all sorts of sold.
the shoes: Vera Wang penny loafer pumps
Heels? Check. Pointed Toe? Check. Cute design? Check. ‘Aight. We’ve got our shoes!
I love these penny loafer pumps by Vera Wang, they mix my love of platform shoes with the 2015 shoe trend of the year: the pointed toe. The little ankle strap adds a super girly edge to these, that will help tone down the masculinity of the collar/cuffs of the dress.
the bag: Stella Mccartney wild cat applique clutch
Parties require talking point items. And items that are also practical. The size of this clutch means that you can pop all your essentials in there and it won’t feel too bulky or cumbersome in that way shoulder bags do sometimes. Plus the applique wild cat detail is cute enough that it doesn’t clash with anything, but still adds a little extra.
accessories: 1 – Garrard wing ring 2- Delfina Delettrez ‘lips piercing’ ring
Since the Minjukim dress has a collar and cuffs, necklaces and bracelets won’t really shine to their full potential the same way they would with a sleeveless number. So accessories wise I went for some ring detailing. I adore wing rings. I have a few of my own and I think they’re such precious little items, definitely a must have for a party outfit. I also think this ‘Lips Piercing’ ring is a really quirky item, and ties the bag in nicely with the rest of the outfit.
To finish this outfit off, I’d probably add some cute white lace-trim ankle socks and a (faux) fur trip cape to take you from place to place. Because you never know when surprise venues happen, and walking may be required.
I really love versatile party outfits, those dresses that are something a little bit special in your wardrobe that dazzle when you need them to, but can also be worn again and again.
What would your perfect party look be? Versatile, or super all out glitter?

I love a sparkly dress during the festive period teamed with some heels – I tend to opt for wedged heel for comfort http://www.shehearts.net x
