I am so over the cold weather. I’m fed up of layering and thermals and the constant dilemma of wanting to look cute but also not wanting to die because it’s NEGATIVE TWENTY CELSIUS OUTSIDE and hotpacks only get me so far. I am tired of having my poor nose be dry and scratchy and my toes and fingers feel like icicles. I know the beginnings of spring aren’t too far away, but I’m wishing hard goddamit.
And with that wishing comes me browsing the ‘new in’ section of websites and seeing what I can add to my (hypothetical) spring wardrobe.

The alt-girl staple is going to be booming in a big way this season. If the hints were there towards the end of 2017, and the sheer amount of heritage check that has been cropping up on the ‘gram during fashion weeks, hadn’t tipped you off by now, then the pages of it on our favourite fashion retailers probably will do. Check prints are one of those things that never truly go out of style, colours and cuts may change, but a good check patterned item in your wardrobe should last you.
I’ve already got my ‘statement check’ piece sorted – those Topshop trousers – and a whole host of other accompaniments in various types to go with it, but I’ve picked a few of my favourites that have been floating around.
