This time last year if you’d’ve told me I was going to plaster myself to the gates of the Westminster Abbey and be changing outfits in the street like it was no big deal, I’d’ve told you to jog on. Heck, if you were saying that even 6 months ago, I’d’ve asked you what exactly you were smoking.
And then on August 30th, I went and did exactly that.
Not in the ‘I’ve had one too many tequilas, pass the champers, GIRLS ON TOUR‘ sense of reckless abandon, and I haven’t lost all my marbles yet (check back in a bit, mid-dissertation and juggling all the joys of final year uni lyf), but in the name of creativity.
Which is, I guess, in itself, one step away from madness.
Ladies and gents, I’d like to introduce to you the nave. And tell you a bit about how the heck you can get involved.
the creatives |
Who?
This is gonna sound as pretentious as feck, but it’s the best way to describe it, I promise. The Nave is an initiative to put creative people together to create some pretty stunning imagery. Photographers, bloggers, models, actors, artists, designers, videographers – you name it, they want it.
What?
Well I already said to create some pretty stunning imagery, but each event will have a theme. The idea is to dress up and have a blast around the given theme. Pretty simple. It’s like a massive dress up party with fab people.
Why?
Because we can.
I highly suggest getting involved if you’re in any way interested. I was aching for 3 days straight afterwards, but I had so. Much. Fun. The photographers (khristopheruk, mrbiggsphotography, simone cartaro, joesarahphoto – I’m missing some here but I will link when I can!) are brilliant, our mua honeyrosemua did a miraculous job at making me look less dead than I felt, and we had wonderful clothes from skyhigh fly apparel and props from sweettwisted.
It goes a bit like this: we meet, chat, share social links and get geared up for the first shoot in the first location. Then we pair up, or group off to take some shots. People stare, ask questions, wonder what the heck we’re doing. It’s all a little bit gratuitous, but at the risk of sounding more pretentious and thoroughly unrelateable, art kinda is. (Here’s lookin’ at you, Banksy.) Then we walk to the next location, change outfits, rinse, repeat. Be adventurous.

I don’t think I can actually put into words how much fun I had without repeating myself and you all rolling your eyes. I’ve been so damned excited to see these photos, and I really, really do hope that you all get involved at some point. The next event is scheduled for October 25th, so if you want to take part, sign up on the website – or email info@thenave.co .
I thoroughly, wholeheartedly recommend it, even if you just pop by for moral support, or to have a go at taking some super ~artsy~ shots for the heck of it.
Interested? What do you think of this sort of guerrilla photo shoot idea?

The idea is pure genius! This gives bloggers a really good chance to work with photographers and get some ootds done. It can be hard for some people (including me) if you haven't got someone to take your pictures. Love that they also center the shoot around a theme. Your dress looks stunning on you Fii. Loved seeing you today. Hope to speak very soon <3Caz | Style Lingua
