Essay done, spell checked, edited, turned it electronically, handed in on paper. Much exhaustion, much relief. It means I’ve finished this semester of university and can finally allow myself to get all festive. I’ve bought some presents, some awesome wrapping paper from paperchase, cute boxes, tags
and writing paper for Christmas/New Year letters to my international friends. I do love a good letter.
So I’m back at home for the Christmas period, which is lovely after so much time away. I was greeted by a fully ‘Christmassed’ house, courtesy of my little sister, as she decorated top to bottom when she got home last week. Most of our decorations are horrifically garish, but we love them all the same, since we’ve had many since my sisters and I were very small. The tree got an update this year though, gifted baubles in unified colours (red, silver and gold). Dad also made my favourite of his ‘secret’ recipes that he’s promised to give me one day: carrot cake.
Since the start of this semester I’ve been missing being at home tremendously. I definitely enjoy the freedom I have at university, the independence and the fact that if I order something from asos I don’t get immediate judgement passed by my mum and sisters. But after spending a full year away, then moving almost immediately to my uni accommodation this year has really made me miss all my home comforts. Sure I’ve had to downsize back to my twin bed, and getting to anywhere decent for shopping is Leicester or London, but I’ve missed the sibling banter, not having to foot the weekly food bill and mum chats.
I’ve got a bit of a busy week up till the 25th (which doesn’t involve sitting in front of my laptop typing an essay), so hopefully blogmas shall resume with … better(?) or at least more seasonally appropriate content.
I’d also just like to say an absolutely massive thank you to you guys who read this little space of mine on the internet. I’m totally overwhelmed by how lovely and supportive you all are, So thank you. ♥
