I love (read: looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove) a fab statement sale find. Especially because I really hate shopping sales. One too many years spent in retail means that I’m not exactly running to sift through overstuffed rails in the hopes of finding a bargain – even though the sales in Korea are usually pretty damned spectacular for price drops. (Seriously, if you’re planning to visit and love to shop, hit up a sale season, you’ll adore it). I haven’t made a dedicated effort to shop the winter sales this season, since I’m searching for the perfect pair of jeans and also trying to be a little more conscious with my spending on clothes, but I still managed to wander into Bershka with the help of my chief enablers.
Though, let’s be real, there wasn’t really any persuasion necessary, and somehow I managed to walk away with this amazing jacket.
A good leather (or pleather / alternative) jacket is a wardrobe staple. It goes with basically every outfit. Jeans and a white tee? Throw on a leather(-look) jacket for ultimate ease. Got a cute babydoll dress? Chuck on a leather jacket to edge it up a bit. Want an extra layer because it’s -20 degrees C outside and you still wanna look cute? Leather. Jacket. Going to meet your significant others parents for the first time? Ok, probably not, but it depends on the family.
With this lil’ beauty added to my collection, I now have three leather-look jackets. One is a more ‘boyfriend-oversized’ fit, so it’s longer in the arms and the length, I wore it when I went to explore Korea in the Autumn if you want to check out what it looks like. The second I picked up just as the weather was turning too cold to wear it comfortably, but it’s a fitted varsity style with sweet ass embroidery on the back. Winter set in too quickly for me to get the wear I wanted out of it, but I’m determined to shoot some looks with it in the spring.
This one, though, is an absolute stunner. It has a bright red faux fur lining and silver hardware details. It didn’t look the best on the hanger, but you know when clothes have to be worn to look good? Yeah. That. I was eyeing it up the minute I walked through the doors, and just had to try it on. With the rolled cuffs and buckle accents, it’s cut in an aviator style, and I do love an aviator jacket. I decided to get it in a medium so that I could wear it comfortably with jumpers underneath, and that it was more versatile than just a spring or autumn piece. Now that I’m learning how to layer better for cold weather, I actually need things to go over the layers.
The ultimate draw though, has to be the red faux fur lining. It’s so bright and vibrant and it makes such a statement. Bershka also does a yellow and a black version, if the red isn’t your cup of tea. I love how the red adds a pop of colour to an otherwise pretty standard cut and style of jacket. It also makes it super easy to use to add interest to basic pieces if you want to. The base outfit I’ve used here consists of basics from my wardrobe – a black asos jersey skirt, a brown roll neck top from icecream12, new look black chelsea platform boots – and the Bershka jacket adds a little bit more interest. Using jackets in this way makes adding a statement piece to your outfit really, really easy, you really don’t have to put a lot of thought into it. Of course, if you wanted to pattern or colour clash, or use something to create a counter-statement, that would work too (also, tag me in your photos if you do do that! I’d love to see!).
Finally, the price. This jacket retailed for 68000W and I managed to snag it for 39000W. Not exactly half price, but close enough that it made it definitely less painful to put through the till. For a pleather/leather look jacket, it’s really soft and supple, and the stitching seems sound and unlikely to break anytime soon, which fills me with joy because I really want to get my wear out of this one. It’s a fun alternative to my other jackets that I have, and I’ll probably (or definitely) be taking it along to fashion week to keep my warm when the chill sets in in the evenings.
Let me know if you’ve picked up any fab sale pieces this year! I’d love to know~

Oh my gosh I LOVE this jacket, especially because of the faux fur on the inside! Would you believe that I only have one "leather" jacket? I got it for £5 from one of those cheap shops but I'm dying to get another good quality one!Lizzie Bee // Hello Lizzie Bee
