New season, new skincare and new beauty trends to try. Colour palettes get darker, moisturisers get more intense, and routines become gentler despite the penchant for fuller coverage and more drama in the day-to-day.
Not to mention the intensity that comes with makeup around Hallowe’en. What a time to be alive.
I’ve had a few fab parcels arrive at my door in the way of beauty bits, so thought I’d do a little roundup before full reviews grace these pages.
Rimmel London – #scandaleyesReloaded*
The Scandaleyes mascara and felt-tip eyeliner have been reloaded. With the new brand ambassador Cara Delevingne in a spy thriller inspired campaign, the Scandaleyes range has been ramped up with more drama, more volume, more bold… and the fab news that it’s now easy to remove with warm water. No more oil-cleanser-in-the-eye-burning for stubborn mascara. They aim to have that mascara disappear without a trace after 24hrs of perfect wear under any condition. I’m super excited to try both the black* shade (red/orange tube) and extreme black* (black tube) to compare and contrast.
In the eyeliners, we have the scandaleyes thick and thin*, I’ve tried this myself before, in fact it’s my current felt-tip eyeliner, and it’s 3D slanted edge does allow you to draw that cat-eye effortlessly with it’s ability to change widths with the drawing angle. New to me is the scandaleyes micro* – a precision liner to flawlessly define eyes. Both are billed as long-lasting and ultra-black, that stay on your eyes despite wear, tears, heat, humidity. I’ll definitely keep you posted on how I like these!
skinChemists – Wild Caviar Range*
I’m all for fun skincare (holla at ya, Korea), and it’s interesting to see how Western brands are incorporating different ingredients into their formulas and ranges. The lovely team at skinChemists asked if I’d like to try out some of their new ‘Wild Caviar’ range – and since they’re a new brand to me I thought I’d give them a go and see what I think. Luxury skincare is definitely something I’m branching into, so the arrival of the advanced caviar micellar water* and advanced caviar night moisturiser* was very welcome. Hopefully this helps on days where my skin feels it could use that extra boost of goodness overnight, perhaps before events or parties where I really want to glow.
Taking photos of the mirrored sphere the moisturiser comes in though, was so hard.
Another new brand to me, introduced by the lovely Cia Marsh from Little Yellow Butterflies. I was sent the beauty elixir*, grape water facial mist*, and the instant detox mask*, some of the brands most popular products. If, like myself, you haven’t heard of Caudalie before, they’re a French brand that focus on natural ingredients and products that are free of chemicals like parabens, phenoxyethanol, mineral oils, animal-derived raw materials, paraffin, phthalates, and sodium laureth sulphate. They also fight to keep their brand as green as possible with recycled and recyclable packaging. I’m excited to try these products, especially the facial mist!
What new releases are you excited for this season? Let me know! Oh, and if you’ve tried any of these before tell me how you got on too 🙂
